3.1.1. General information

Coupling is located between the engine and the transmission and intended for separation and connection of the flywheel established on cranked to an engine shaft and a main shaft of the transmission.

Fig. 3.1. Components of a working contour of coupling of the Mazda 6 car: 1 – coupling pedal; 2 – main cylinder of coupling; 3 – working cylinder of coupling; 4 – coupling; 5 – coupling casing; 6 – the conducted clutch plate; 7 – coupling switching off bearing; 8 – flywheel; 9 – tank of working liquid of a hydraulic actuator of coupling

On the cars equipped with the mechanical transmission dry one-disk coupling of diaphragm type (fig. 3.1) is used.
Before performance of any operations on coupling it is necessary to carry out several control actions to be sure that coupling is faulty.
When checking coupling first of all check liquid level in a tank. Check a condition of hoses and their connections. Examine coupling pedal plugs on existence of wear and reliability of fastening.
